Physical Therapy for Athletes with Knee Injuries
The Knee PT + Coaching is the clinic in Central Oregon that specializes in knee injury care for athletes, helping you from the time of your injury all the way through your safe and strong return to sport.
Why choose TKPT?
Getting straight to the point, I believe that athletes who are committed to returning to sport at their highest level of potential after a knee injury need specialized physical therapy care from someone who knows the athlete mentality, pushes you hard enough (while keeping you safe), and leads you through a successful rehab program that actually gets you back to your sport feeling strong and confident in your body.

I've been a patient and also worked in "high volume" clinics where you spend most of your session doing exercises with an aide instead of getting undivided attention from your physical therapist - which is one of the most important components of your rehab journey.

I've also met many athletes with knee injuries who feel frustrated and discouraged in their return-to-sport process because of pain that won't go away, a slower-than-expected healing time, and confusion about what they're actually supposed to be doing at each stage in the recovery to stay on track.

The result? Second-guessing the guidance they receive from their PT (especially when they're being told one thing by their surgeon and another by their PT) and longing for answers that make sense - so that they can finally move forward and get their most active and joyful life back.

What you can expect when you work with me
Like every other Doctor of Physical Therapy, I am trained to help you overcome any musculoskeletal injury, and I have a specific passion for helping athletes get back to the sports they love. But what makes my clinic and treatment approach different from many other PTs is my specialized focus on rehabbing (and preventing) knee injuries, helping you to feel stronger and more confident in your body than you did pre-injury.

On paper, specific kinds of knee injuries appear to have a very straight-forward and methodical recovery plan. Think of the post-surgical rehab plan your surgeon gives you when you're fresh out of ACL surgery... which is also the same sheet of paper he hands to all of the other patients that have the same injury as you.

The problem? These protocols are based on averages - and YOUR journey is bound to look different, because your body's healing timeline is unique to YOU and the circumstances you have in your life.

This is why you can expect to follow a research-guided rehab process that's also frequently re-evaluated and adapted based on the many different factors that contribute to your recovery success.
Here's how it works

Discovery Call
Let's get to know each other over a 15-min phone call, during which you'll share your story, goals, and desired rehab experience. Together we'll decide if it feels like the right fit to establish care and get you on the schedule.

Your First Session
After meeting me at my clinic, we'll take measurements, look at the way your body moves and feels, and establish a care plan to reduce your pain, help you get stronger, and regain healthy movement patterns to help you return to your favorite sport with confidence.

Getting You Back to Sport
You'll continue with in-clinic sessions at a mutually agreed upon frequency.
Your progress will be evaluated consistently via strength measurements and movement pattern assessments. Together we'll continue to refine your rehab plan so that you stay on track in meeting your goals.
One last thing...
If you've had knee injuries that sidelined you from your favorite sports before or you've watched a friend or family member go through their own rehab journey, you may have learned at this point that big-time knee injury recoveries can also involve a very challenging mental/emotional/psychological component, too.

If you're new to a sidelining knee injury and you're already starting to feel like you're losing your sense of self - those parts of you that feel confident, purposeful, excited to spend time with your favorite people, and that super strong connection you feel with your teammates or running buddies that love sports the same way you do - then chances are you're already getting a taste of the psychological component of the rehab process.

It's real and valid thing. It's not you taking this injury too seriously and being overly sensitive about losing a part of your lifestyle that means so much to you. Nope - your response to that feeling that your life has been totally flipped upside down makes sense.

I've been there, too. And I really wish I had the opportunity to be supported by a mental health provider who actually understood what it meant when I said it was hard to get out of bed in the morning and be excited about anything else in life that wasn't attached to getting my sport back. Because the truth is, I felt so alone - especially when it seemed like my family and closest friends didn't get it.

Fast forward beyond my 2nd ACL Injury Recovery and a Doctoral Thesis on The Psychological Component of Sports Injury and how it relates to physical recovery outcomes, it was a no-brainer for me to pursue a mindset coaching certification so that I could be that person for you.

The ultimate goal? To help you get through this recovery feeling unstoppable, empowered, and excited about life (even when your knee needs a pause from some of the things you love) so that your body heals as fast and smoothly as possible.

So if you're the kinda athlete who:
-
Wants to make sure you get this recovery right the first time
-
Is committed to doing everything possible to ensure an strong, smooth, and successful return-to-sport process
-
Is open to sharing your vulnerable thoughts and feelings about your experience in the recovery process
-
And you crave crystal clear guidance that allows you to feel more in control and boosts your confidence at every step in your healing journey...

Then it's highly likely that Sports Injury Recovery Coaching could be the best power move you can make for yourself, the results you create in this recovery, and the unshakeable confidence you'll have when you do return to your favorite sports.

I got you, Champ!
